Searching my ancestors: 1. James C. Young, 1673-1749, immigrant from Lamont clan, Argyleshire, Scotland, via Ulster, County Antrim, Ireland. Ulster Scot who received free land. 2. Son James Young 1720-63, (also immigrant), wife, and all but 2 of their children were killed in Indian uprising in Augusta Co, VA. 2. Grandson James Young born 1758 in Staunton, orphaned age 14, married Mary (Polly) Gwin/Guyn in 1786 in Augusta Co, owned slaves in Clark Co, KY, and died at daughter's home in Shelby Co, IN in 1829.

Nice site for the society. As others before me have done, I am researching Charles Milliken and his wife Ann Harbison. They were married about 1746 (probably in Virginia). Charles purchased land in Augusta County and was active in his community from the late 1740s through the mid-1750s. Augusta County was considerably larger at that time and the land may now be located in another county, but that discovery will come with time and research.
