I have been doing genealogy on my family and it has lead me to Augusta County to revolutionary war pensioner William Neel . He served in the Military in about the years 1777 or 1778 from Augusta County. I found the records from Giles County where he testified in a hearing for his application for military pension that he was in Yorktown, Virginia until the surrender of Lord Cornwallis. He also testified at the same time that he was originally from and was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
If there is perhaps any further information on him and his family during their time in Augusta County, could someone please email me to let me know.
Thank you, Doug Neal

Looking for a birth record for John Hayes b 1755 in Augusta County, Virginia and died 1830 in Buncombe County, NC. I would like to identify his parents and heritage.
He married Mary Randall c 1792 either in VA or NC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My great-grandmother is giving me fits. My research is stalled at her life and renegade behavior. Her name is Estaline Nuckols (Nuckles, Nuckoles, Knuckols). Born in or around Staunton in 1852. I need to find her birth certificate, to find her parents name and anything else it might tell me. . Also she had a child at around 15 by someone we think his name is Leppard or Leopard. She lived with a Leppard or Leopard Sr but we think child was by a younger Leppard perhaps killed in Civil War. We think she had two children by the senior Leppard too.
Anything anyone can contribute will be greatly appreciated.

I have already benefited from the expertise of the leaders of the Augusta County Genealogical Society. My best two hours of genealogical research in 2014 were in Staunton in October 2014. Thanks -- I'll be back in touch soon.
